Über engadget.de bin ich auf eine Anleitung eines Reddit-User gestoßen, die den 3D-Ausdruck des Gehirns auf Basis eines MRT beschreibt. Alles was man benötigt ist: „…
- a 3D printer, ideally one you know how to operate
- a high-quality T1-weighted anatomical MRI scan of your head (more info below)
- familiarity and comfort with linux (optional, if you’re willing to learn). The software below can run on most operating systems, but you’ll need to be able to use a terminal.
- a decent computer. Nothing too fancy, but you’ll need to be able to run the software below, so check the spec requirements.

Ich könnte mir gut einen Einsatz für die Aufklärung von Patienten vor Hirn-OPs vorstellen. Der Arzt druckt schnell das Hirn-Modell aus und erklärt dem Patienten dann vorhandene Anomalien und die OP-Technik.
Ich freue mich schon auf die ersten erschwinglichen 3D-Printer!
